Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

  • We do not accept insurance at this time. Clients pursuing an evaluation must pay out of pocket. Please note that many insurance companies will not reimburse for an evaluation or behavioral services.

  • We do not prescribe medication, but an evaluation can assist with determining if your child is a possible candidate for medication.

  • School evaluations or “psychoeducational evaluations” usually focus on skills needed for academic success including testing intelligence and academic skills. Although these evaluations are helpful in determining whether a child qualifies for special education, they do not diagnose disorders (e.g., ADHD, autism, etc.) and are not as comprehensive as a neuropsychological evaluation, which measures more cognitive abilities and goes into more depth assessing emotional, behavioral, and social functioning.

  • The testing session occurs in-person at our downtown Portland office. However, we offer intake and feedback appointments either in-person or over Zoom (HIPAA-compliant).

  • The report contains background information on your child, behavioral observations during testing, a results summary, clinical impressions including any diagnoses, and tailored and practical recommendations for how to support your child at home, school, and in the community.
